Ok, I confess. I’m a wannabe blogger who got overwhelmed after this website was set up. But today is a new day and I’m writing my first blog! I am a younger Boomer and trying to navigate the new world of social networking. Facebook, Twitter, blogs, podcasts, and soon to be “waves” are new to my world. Yet, there is no turning back the clock. I recently saw a video called “The Next 5000 Days of the Internet.” You can find it on Ted.com. It was mind blowing yet informative. We are socially connecting at the speed of light and at the same time, people feel lonely and isolated. I live in the USA but often travel to very remote places where dial-up is still the norm. Often, those folks are more “connected” than we are with vibrant face-to-face relationships that are deep and rich. Interesting! As humans, made in image of God, we are made for relationship with our Creator and with one another. Today, let’s celebrate the relationships we have, fostering them electronically but not neglecting the flesh and blood folks that we see each day!

Here’s a quick overview of the characters:

George, Brad, Brianna, and Nate are connected by their jobs; the four of them make up the IT department at Handover Corporation. They also represent four distinct generations: The Silent Generation (1925-1942), Boomers (1943-1960), GenXers (1961-1981), and Millennials (1982-2002). They all have their own specialties, and when the day is done they go their separate ways—that is, until the company sends them on a white-water rafting trip to encourage team building. Surviving the rapids, they return to work to discover that their CEO is stepping down, sending the company into a tumultuous transition. They rely on the skills they just learned in order to survive and remain in the boat together.

I’m trying to get the word out about this book so that it will fly off the shelves at Amazon! So, please take a moment, look around, and stay tuned for the next blog.
